Fund research group Rayner Spencer Mills Research has added four funds to its rated funds list, taking the total investments on its list to 330, Geoff Mills has said.

The group director at RSMR said the funds were the Kames Absolute Return bond; Marlborough Special Situations; Baillie Gifford Emerging Markets Growth; and Legg Mason ClearBridge US Aggressive Growth fund.

Mr Mills said the Kames Absolute Return Bond offered investment in all types of fixed and floating rate fixed-income securities, and its objective was to generate positive absolute returns for investors over a rolling three-year period.

For investors seeking capital growth through smaller companies, he said: “The Marlborough Special Situations fund aims to provide investors with capital growth by investing in smaller companies, new issues and companies experiencing a difficult period but with good recovery prospects.”

He added that Baillie Gifford’s Emerging Markets and Pacific team, led by fund managers Richard Sneller and William Sutcliffe, had “a vast amount of stock knowledge along with an understanding of the macro factors of the regions in which this fund may invest.”

According to Mr Mills, Legg Mason’s ClearBridge US Aggressive Growth fund has “performed well” for investors.
