Two years after its launch, Thomas Moore took over as manager of this £679.6m fund in January 2009. He has produced a consistent performance ever since through the use of an actively managed approach.

The fund aims to provide income and some capital growth over the long term by investing in UK equities.

This unconstrained fund typically holds a concentrated portfolio of stocks but will also hold a proportion in bonds in order to supplement income.

The largest sector weighting in the portfolio is to financials at 30.5 per cent, while industrials comprises a further 22.6 per cent of the fund and consumer services accounts for 18.6 per cent.

The fund has outperformed the IMA UK Equity Income sector over five years with a total return of 80.74 per cent, against the sector average of 56.45 per cent, placing it top quartile, according to FE Analytics. It has posted a similar degree of outperformance compared to the sector across three years as well.
