Regional: Sheffield has fewer private homes

Sheffield has one of the lowest levels of private housing both regionally and across England, statistics from the Office for National Statistics has shown.

According to the data, Sheffield has 238,295 dwellings, 75.2 per cent of which are private housing stock.

This compares to the wider region of Yorkshire and the Humber, which has more than 2.3m dwellings, with 81% of private housing, and England as a whole, which has 22.9m dwellings, 82 per cent of which are privately owned.
