Congratulations to Robin Keyte, the overall winner of Money Management’s Financial Planner Awards, sponsored by Schroders. The awards were presented last night at a gala dinner in London’s Mayfair, hosted by comedian Mark Dolan.

Dr Keyte, director at Somerset-based Keyte Chartered Financial Planners, had entered into the Sipp , investment companies and inheritance tax planner categories. He had won individual categories for each of the past five years, but this was his first overall win, earning the former chemist a £5,000 prize.

The individual categories saw a good mix of new and familiar faces. Succession Group’s Paul Campion - a first-time entrant - was the winner in the Sipps planner category, sponsored by Suffolk Life. The runner up was Allan Harragan of Grangewood Financial Management.

The investment companies planner of the year, sponsored by the AIC, saw Leeds-based Francis Klonowski take his 17th individual award. He has also won the overall award twice.

Mr Klonowski pipped Carbon’s Paul Gibson, who was also runner-up for the inheritance tax planner category, sponsored by Octopus Investments, which was won by 75point3’s Chris Marshall, collecting his third individual award in as many years.

Protection planner of the year, sponsored by LV=, saw Alan Lakey of Highclere Financial Services win again. Francis Klonowski was the runner up. The two shortlisted candidates have now amassed over 40 nominations at these awards between them.

Jon Dixon, director of employee benefits at Attivo Financial Planning, was named automatic enrolment planner of the year, beating 75point3’s Kirsty Stewart, into second place in a keenly contested category, sponsored by the People’s Pension.

Having already claimed two runners-up spots, Carbon Financial Planning’s Paul Gibson took the main prize in the tracker planner of the year category, sponsored by Legal and General. Duncan Parkes, of the Old Mill Group, was runner up and was also pipped to the post in the FTAdviser-sponsored at-retirement category, this time by Yellowtail’s Dennis Hall.

Entrants into the awards had to provide individual case study entries of approximately 2,500 words. In order to be eligible for the overall Financial Planner of the Year Award, entrants had to present at least three individual case studies.

Congratulations to all of the winners from everyone at Money Management.
