The £1bn City of London Investment Trust has become the top seller on the Hargreaves Lansdown Vantage Platform, latest data has shown.
According to the Bristol-based firm, the trust, managed by Job Curtis of Henderson Global Investors, has appealed to investors seeking a strong dividend yield.
He said that the trust has been giving a dividend nearly every quarter since 1966, without having to slash its earnings per share even through the various market downturns.
Mr Curtis said: “The pension freedoms next year may see more investors want a form of regular income, which could be found through using trusts such as City.
“For long-term investors, the dividend yield is very important.”
