Kames Capital has hired an investment manager for its global equity team following the departure of head of overseas equities Piers Hillier.

Craig Bonthron has joined Kames from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip), where he was joint fund manager of the Swip Global Sustainability Equity and Global Islamic Equity funds.

At Kames he will analyse stocks for the Kames Global Equity fund, reporting to the fund’s co-manager, Pauline McPherson.

Mr Bonthron’s arrival comes after Mr Hillier left Kames to join Royal London Asset Management.

Mr Hillier’s portfolio management responsibilities have been taken on by Neil Goddin and Marcus Chandler and Kames said it would not be appointing anyone to replace him as head of overseas equities.
