Adrian Sharpe, head of discretionary sales at BNY Mellon Investment Management, has left the group.

Mr Sharpe had worked at the company since July 2008, having joined from Close Investments where he was head of discretionary and institutional sales.

Alongside his role on the discretionary team, which includes directors Gary Tuffield and Adrian Gough, Mr Sharpe looked after the north, the Midlands and Ireland.

The move comes after BNY Mellon saw its UK wholesale managing director Scott Goodsir leave the company in January. Fergus McCarthy from Investec Asset Management has subsequently replaced him.

In June, the group told Investment Adviser that Mr McCarthy’s appointment had prompted it to overhaul the structure of its UK sales team.

The group said at the time he would co-head the wholesale distribution team with Mr Tuffield, who would focus on wealth managers.

Matt Oomen, head of Europe Middle East and Africa intermediary distribution at BNY Mellon Investment Management, said at the time the departure of Mr Goodsir had been a “catalyst” to change the way in which its team worked.

He said the company would now have key account managers who would focus on individual companies rather than working in “silos”, which involved sales staff covering categories of firms, such as life companies or discretionary managers.
