A new research service from specialist consultancy Finance & Technology Research Centre aims to help advisers compare protection products, according to Ian McKenna, managing director of the financial services research company.

He said the quality analyser research and panel selection comparison service for protection will give advisers product and research information for life, critical illness, income protection and mortgage protection.

It will include product features, such as policy conditions, added benefits, exclusions, claims and underwriting. It will also take into account any bespoke arrangements between insurers and adviser firms.

Mr McKenna said the service was aimed at head office compliance departments for larger adviser firms, as well as networks and adviser firms looking to compare insurers for their panel selection.

Insurers included within the comparison function include: Aegon, Ageas Protect, Aviva, Bright Grey, Friends Life, Legal & General, LV=, PruProtect, Scottish Provident and Zurich.

Adviser view

Peter Fairweather, head of customer services for Origen, said: “For networks and larger adviser firms who are looking to decide which insurers to partner with, the tool is excellent. Firms can select the providers they wish to compare, then select the features they want to compare against, and immediately see a data table with all appropriate answers and information. This includes both product and operational features, as well as the ability to cover any bespoke arrangements.”
