Adam Parker, co-founder of investment boutique Majedie Asset Management, is set to retire after 27 years in the industry.

Mr Parker will retire on June 30 next year, when the Majedie UK Smaller Companies fund will be fully taken over by his co-manager Richard Staveley.

Rob Harris, chief executive at Majedie, said: “Adam has been a close colleague and friend for over 20 years; he was here at the beginning and can be very proud of his contribution since.

“We understand his decision to step aside and he has our very best wishes for the future.”

Mr Parker said: “After navigating the ups and downs of the UK stock market for nearly three decades, it is time for me to move on.

“Majedie has progressed beyond our imaginings back in 2002 and I will leave behind a remarkable team. I remain personally invested in the UK Smaller Companies fund and have no doubt Richard will steward the portfolio successfully in the years ahead.”

Mr Parker has been involved in UK small cap equities since 1994, when he was a member of the Alpha Team at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. He left the company in 2002 to start Majedie, with James de Uphaugh, Chris Field, Rob Harris and Simon Hazlitt.
