French asset manager Mandarine Gestion is looking to crack the UK market by appointing Harrington Cooper to distribute its funds in this country.

Mandarine Gestion and Harrington Cooper will initially focus on selling the top-performing Mandarine Unique – Small & Mid Caps Europe fund to UK investors.

The Mandarine Unique fund has delivered a return of 99.2 per cent since its launch in 2010 compared to 56.1 per cent for its benchmark index, the Stoxx Small 200 index.

It is run by Diane Bruno, Marie-Jeanne Missoffe and Marie Guigou, and concentrates on buying small and mid cap European stocks that are considered “unique”; stocks are only bought if they have “no listed direct competitors in Europe”.

The firm has €2bn (£1.57bn) in assets under management and has been running segregated accounts for wholesale investors in the UK for years but is now looking to expand its investor base.
