Aberdeen’s US equities head Atkinson to leave group

Aberdeen’s head of North American equities Paul Atkinson will leave the group this June, the group has said.

Aberdeen said the Philadelphia-based manager was “returning to Europe with his family” and would be leaving his role at the end of June.

The group said Ralph Bassett would succeed Mr Atkinson in his role and would also take on the North American Income Trust, which he will manage with Fran Radano.

Hugh Young, global head of equities at Aberdeen Asset Management, said: “It will be sad to see Paul go but he will leave in June with our thanks and best wishes for the future.

“Ralph is the obvious successor given his current role and his experience within Aberdeen. Our collegiate and consistent approach to investing will ensure a smooth transition and a continued focus on bottom-up fundamental company research.”
