Polar Capital gauges interest for European Income fund

Polar Capital is road-testing another European income fund for manager Nick Davis after finding client interest for a fund that excludes UK stocks.

The new fund could come as soon as the second quarter of next year depending on the UK investor interest.

Mr Davis, formerly of Threadneedle, is currently running a dummy portfolio of the fund alongside his existing Polar Capital European Income fund.

The group launched the fund for Mr Davis in October of last year. The fund has a pan-European approach, with roughly 30 per cent in UK shares.

Polar Capital’s global head of distribution, Iain Evans, said: “We have had demand from our UK client base for this type of product, and 35 per cent of our clients are based in Europe.

“This is one time where we need separate products for the UK and Europe”.
