LifeSearch launches income protection promise

LifeSearch customers will only be recommended the best possible family and income protection cover products, chief executive Tom Baigrie has promised.

He said: “Sometimes consumers are unwittingly seduced by inferior products with a lower cost. So we promise that as long as you are working, we will only recommend an income protection policy that will pay out if you are unable to do your own job.”

LifeSearch said it would not offer lower levels of cover just to cut the price or cut corners on the application process.

The protection adviser also published an infographic to help consumers better understand income protection, and vowed to offer working people plans that pay out if they were unable to do their own job.

Mr Baigrie said: “People need to know that products vary but that their salary is properly protected with the right cover. On average more than 90 per cent of all IP claims are paid in the UK, however the public perception is that that number much lower.

A charity-led consumer campaign Seven Families, highlighting the financial impact of being unable work to following illness or accident, has raised awareness of the importance of protection products.
