Nucleus adds to its best practice programme

Nucleus has added an online component to its new best practice programme, Illuminate, to complement the live events the company holds across the UK.

The best practice initiative was developed to provide events and practical workshops to the company’s adviser community with help from over 30 industry experts.

Illuminate online, a free service, will build on this initiative through hosting a range of interactive learning materials, including blogs, comprehensive white paper and videos with links to relevant content form other sources.

The Illuminate knowledge centre is divided into five categories – practice development, technical, industry, compliance, and marketing. Participation in the programme will also help advisers meet their CPD requirements, with each live session equating to five CPD hours.

Barry Nielson, business development director at Nucleus, said many of Illuminate’s clients use the products as a way to improve their businesses and client propositions, so Nucleus aims to encourage the sharing of best practice across their audience though regular practice management sessions.

Mr Nielson continued to explain that Nucleus launched Illuminate to help build and share knowledge in areas that are critical to the successful development of adviser business.

The Illuminate live events launched last month, with the next sessions taking place in May and September in London, Glasgow and Leeds.

Comment:

Nucleus has launched what could be described as a hybrid of Facebook and LinkedIn strictly for financial advisers, with a slight feel of the online component in a university class. Illuminate online allows advisers to share information and support the development of the IFA industry as a whole.

Advisers may hesitate about this type of service as it runs the risk of the company trying to push their products in an informal setting. However, Nucleus assures the adviser community that the sole purpose of Illuminate is to share education tools to help advisers run their business and encourage best practice.

The whole of Illuminate is free for everyone for now, but in time the company will introduce some content exclusively for Nucleus clients.

One of the best aspects of this programme is that participation can count towards an adviser’s CPD minutes. The RDR has succeeded in requiring adviser to stay on top of developments within their industry, so the adviser community often welcomes products that aid in this endeavour.

Some of Illuminate’s expert contributors include founder of Technical Connection Tony Wickenden, regulatory change specialist Phil Billingham, Standards International’s Michelle Hoskin, and founder of Meaningful Money Pete Matthew.

Each of four topics chosen to be highlighted by the live component of Illuminate will be discussed over three sessions throughout the year, building understanding and insight into the given area.
