While many in financial services have an alter ego, few can claim to win awards for it.

However, freelance journalist Edmund Tirbutt, aka Ed de Cantor, has just received this accolade, by winning the 2015 silver stand-up awards at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival – the national competition for the best comedian aged over 55.

Mr Tirbutt said: “This is the highest accolade that someone of my age can possibly win in the comedy world, and I really hope that it leads to my getting more paid work and higher-profile gigs.”
