Task Force adds FSCP member to executive committee

The Income Protection Task Force has appointed Teresa Fritz to its executive committee, responsible for promoting the value of income protection from 1 April.

Ms Fritz is a member of the Financial Services Consumer Panel and is an advocate for income protection.

Speaking at a roundtable, hosted by Zurich, in January, Ms Fritz described income protection as a “jewel in the crown” of an insurance industry which “has some awful products”, citing frustrating that it was not sold more.

Ms Fritz has previously represented the interests of consumers of financial services through her work with Which?, The Money Advice Service and the British Insurance Brokers Association .

Peter Le Beau, chairman of the IPTF, said that her work will ensure the interests of consumers are uppermost in its thinking.

“The existing committee have enormous respect for the work Teresa has done in financial services over the years.”

Ms Fritz added that the Seven Families initiative is starting to ignite a real interest in income protection.

“I have long believed income protection is a massive consumer need and the industry should be focusing on helping to fulfil this need more actively; I hope I can bring a different and valuable perspective to their thinking.”
