DeVere launches ‘aggressive’ assault on UK market

International wealth manager deVere Group has revealed plans to develop its UK presence aggressively.

Nigel Green, the founder and chief executive, said the firm would be opening new offices and increasing its number of advisers in the UK.

He said: “We have taken the strategic decision to aggressively develop our already solid position in the UK throughout 2015 and beyond as a major priority.

“It remains unusual for internationally focused advisory firms to develop extensively in the UK.”

He said this was largely due to the costs and difficulties of adapting international business models and practices, the perceived saturation of the marketplace and the heavily regulated environment.

“However deVere is bucking that trend,” he said.

In addition to increasing its UK reach, Mr Green said deVere would be expanding the services it could offer to clients with bespoke financial solutions, especially with “today’s generation of worker and pensioner in mind”.

DeVere has 70 offices around the globe, clients in 100 countries and more than $10bn (£6.4bn) of funds under advice and administration.

Mr Green added: “The thriving UK economy is attracting back many of the mass affluent, high net-worth individuals and international investors who have previously moved abroad.

“These people need specialist advice, and this is a core market for us.”

In December, deVere announced plans to expand further around the world, claiming it would see a 25 per cent growth in business this year.

Nigel Green said the firm would be focusing on expanding into emerging markets including Africa and Asia.

In the previous month, deVere had announced plans to launch an office in Australia.
