The Ifs University College has launched a qualification for professionals wishing to offer advice on pension transfers.
In combination with Ifs University College’s Diploma for Financial Advisers, the Award in Pensions Transfers (AwPETR) meets the qualification requirements set out by the FCA for pensions transfers specialists.
Martin Day, vice-principal for banking, finance and regulation for Ifs University College, said the launch coincided with “significant reform in the pensions sector allowing consumers greater freedom when deciding how to use their pension pots”.
He added: “Access to high-quality professional advice on pensions has always been important for consumers but the recent reforms mean it is now more vital than ever.
“With greater freedom comes greater risk and it is essential that advisers have the advanced knowledge and understanding to be able to make appropriate recommendations.”
