Aviva Investors hires Simon Young for UK equity team

Simon Young has left BlackRock after 18 years to become a UK equity fund manager for Aviva Investors.

Mr Young will be based in London and report to Trevor Green, head of UK equities.

He is set to work on the £992m retail UK Equity Income fund with Chris Murphy and the institutional UK Equity fund.

The UK Equity Income fund slightly underperformed its sector last year, returning 2.6 per cent, compared to the IA UK Equity Income sector, which returned 2.8 per cent, according to the fund’s factsheet.

Mr Young had worked for BlackRock since 1997, most recently as a UK equities fund manager, running core UK equity and income mandates.
