Helping the hospice

The Colleague Charity Group at Leeds Building Society raised £5,750 for Leeds-based St Gemma’s Hospice in 2014.

This brings to £25,000 the amount donated by the society to the charity over the past five years, to help provide care and the best possible quality of life for local people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Tracie Harrison, senior fundraiser at St Gemma’s Hospice, visited the society’s head office to accept the donation.

She said: “Everyone at St Gemma’s would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff at Leeds Building Society for their fantastic support over the past five years.”

Karen Wint, operations director at Leeds Building Society, said: “Our charity group was launched in 2009, following consultation with colleagues across the business, so we could develop our fundraising around charities which are close to their heart.

“St Gemma’s Hospice was a popular choice, and our team has made some great efforts with their charitable fundraising for the charity over the past five years.”
