PFS launches online adviser directory

The Personal Finance Society has launched a consumer website providing a directory of approximately 22,000 accredited financial advisers, with chief executive Keith Richards saying it could help protect people from fraudulent activity.

The website, Yourmoney, provides information about personal finance issues as well as linking to organisations including the Money Advice Service and Which?

Mr Richards said the site was not a reaction to the pension reforms but stressed that it could protect consumers from fraudulent activity following the changes.

He said: “While the new pension freedoms have been welcomed, they have made consumers more susceptible to pension scammers.

“It is incumbent on us, therefore, to help make sure that the public is aware of this growing threat and to provide support and information to help mitigate the risk.”
