Matthews Asia launches Japan fund

Boutique asset manager Matthews Asia has launched a Luxembourg-domiciled Ucits fund investing in Japan.

The Matthews Japan fund will be managed by Kenichi Amaki, supported by Taizo Ishida as co-manager, and will take an all-cap approach looking to invest in growth companies.

The new launch, which will be available to UK investors through a sterling share class, will have a broadly similar strategy to the Matthews Japan fund that has been running in the US since 1998.

The launch brings the number of Matthews Asia funds available to UK investors up to eight, with the other seven funds comprising China, India and Asia Pacific ex Japan strategies.
