Smith & Williamson hires Pictet global duo

Smith & Williamson has hired Tim Day and Chris Ford to run global and US equity funds.

The pair formerly co-heads of global equities at Pictet Asset Management, will run the £89m North American Trust and the Dublin-domiciled £108m Mid Ocean World fund.

Robert Royle, who runs the US equity fund at present will move to the group’s private client business to take up portfolio management responsibilities while Tana Focke is retiring after 20 years running the fund.

David Hunter will step down from the Mid Ocean World fund to focus on other portfolio management responsibilities within the firm, while global investment team member Vinay Raval will assist Mr Day and Mr Ford, who start on May 11.

Ed Rosengarten, head of funds business, thanked Ms Focke for her contribution since 1997.

“During her tenure as lead manager she achieved top quartile performance, with the fund returning 110 per cent compared to a 59.1 per cent increase in the IA North American sector as a whole,” he said.
