Waverton hires Andrew Fleming as chief executive

Waverton Investment Management has hired former Kames Capital and Aegon Asset Management boss Andrew Fleming to replace Hugh Grootenhuis as its chief executive.

Mr Fleming, who will join Waverton on July 1, was chief executive and chief investment officer of what is now Kames Capital between 2005 and 2013, and had been chief executive of insurance and pensions firm Cumulus Group since leaving the firm.

Prior to joining Kames, Mr Fleming had spent 14 years at Gartmore, rising through the ranks to become head of equities, and had been chief investment officer and global head of portfolio management at ABN Amro Asset Management.

Mr Fleming will replace Mr Grootenhuis, who has been chief executive at Waverton since 2009, when the firm was called JO Hambro Investment Management and was owned by Credit Suisse.
