LV= raises further £3,000 for Seven Families

Life and pension provider LV= has donated a further £3,000 to the Seven Families project, a campaign set up to highlight the importance of protecting one’s income.

This followed a pledge from LV= to donate 77p for every valid Flexible Protection Plan income protection application it received in March and April.

Myles Rix, managing director of LV= Protection said: “We believe that income protection is the most relevant protection policy for working adults. Advisers play a crucial role in helping clients understand the value of these products and LV= is a proud supporter of Seven Families.

“As part of our programme to prioritise protecting peoples’ incomes and the role that Seven Families can play in helping the public understand their financial vulnerability, it seemed natural to offer a further financial boost to this deserving cause and I’m pleased to round up our donation to £3,000.”

The Seven Families campaign has a Just Giving page, which aims to raise £7,777 from industry and adviser donations.

To date, 21 companies have signed up as supporters of the campaign, which launched in 2014 and is a charity-led campaign, with Disability Rights UK, to raise public awareness of the financial impact of long-term illness or disability.

Adviser view

Peter Le Beau, chairman of the Income Protection Taskforce, said: “The campaign has made a good start but we still need all the support we can get to make the campaign as visible as possible. Additional funding will allow us to carry out additional marketing activity, such as radio days and social media. We hope advisers see the value in the campaign and continue to donate towards our target.”
