Henderson buys three Australian asset managers

Henderson has expanded its presence in Australia with the acquisition of three asset management firms.

Henderson has bought Perennial Fixed Interest and Perennial Growth Management, which have combined assets under management of £5.5bn, from IOOF Holdings and the firms’ employee-shareholders.

It has also bought the remaining 59 per cent of 90 West Asset Management that it did not already own.

The Perennial firms have experience in both fixed income and equities, while 90 West has £0.2bn AUM invested in natural resources equities.

Broker Numis Securities said that on a conference call following the announcement, Henderson “implied that it paid c.£50m” in total for the three firms.
