Aviva opens non-advised platform for business

Aviva has launched its non-advised consumer platform, giving access to a general investment account, Isa and self-invested personal pension options.

A spokesperson for the firm confirmed to FTAdviser that the Aviva Consumer Platform is now open to customers and will be further developed over time, complementing the existing adviser and corporate platforms.

The execution-only system also hosts an open-architecture investment offering, powered by technology provider FNZ.

Last July the provider announced plans for the platform, stating that it was aimed at tackling the ‘advice gap’ created in part by the Retail Distribution Review.

At that point, chief executive David Barral stated the strategy was based on growing client demand for a direct online service, adding that it would also include guidance for consumers.

The service is available to the general public not just orphan clients with Aviva policies.
