For Baroness (Ros) Altmann, the decision to become Baroness Altmann of Tottenham is not one inspired by a hidden talent for playing football.

In her maiden speech to the House of Lords, the minister for pensions said her decision stemmed from her time spent as a child at her grandparent’s shop which was based in the area in North London.

She added: “I have many fond memories of serving in the shop, and then walking to football at White Hart Lane holding hands with my father and granddad in the Tottenham Hotspur glory days.”
