Partnership delivers a virtual reality experience

Partnership launched an innovative Google Cardboard App at last week’s FTAadviser Online Service Awards, which enabled smartphones to turn into 3D experience viewers.

Partnership worked closely with FTAdviser and virtual reality specialists Rewind to develop an app for mobile phones which includes a 360 degree video demonstrating a ‘virtual reality’ introduction to Partnership.

The app was launched at FTAdviser’s Online Service Awards at Fabric in London last Thursday (25 June), where the company received the outstanding achievement gong from host, comedian David Schneider, who is pictured enjoying his virtual reality experience. Partnership also received five stars in both the mortgages and life and pensions categories.

As the company develops its offering it will be adding further content to the app which, will be available to advisers later in the year.

Andrew Megson, managing director of retirement at Partnership, said that the firm is committed to innovation and finding new ways to interact with our customers and advisers.

“We were delighted to work with FTAdviser and Rewind FX to create the first financial services Google Cardboard App as we see retirement differently – in 3D in this case.

“Winning five stars for online service is the icing on the cake and we will continue to look for ways in which to better serve those we interact with on a daily basis.”

Matthew Allen, co-founder of Rewind, added that virtual reality is back in the mainstream, as the technology has finally caught up with user expectations. “Since its launch in 2014, Google Cardboard has provided companies with a relatively low cost way in which to provide customers with access to this type of technology.”

The launch of Partnership’s App came the same day as the FCA released a discussion paper and called for the industry to help it innovate the way consumers are communicated with.

The discussion paper gave examples of good practice and cited Nationwide Building Society developing a series of videos to help prospective customers aged between 11 to 17-years-old to understand key banking concepts, along with Barclays Bank providing online videos designed to help customers use its mobile banking app.
