Not run of the mill: Old Mill meets international standard

Financial planner Old Mill has become one of only a few firms to meet internationally recognised standards in the provision of financial advice.

The Somerset-based firm completed the certification programme for BS 8577 – a framework for financial advice and planning services set out by the British Standards Institute – and was one of only 19 firms to meet the standard.

Paula Hodge, head of financial planning at the firm, said “This will now give potential clients the confidence that Old Mill is an organisation that can be trusted to provide such advice safe in the knowledge that it does so in line with the highest industry standards.”

BS 8577 provides a framework to increase client confidence by specifying established best practice and processes.

Background

In February Hertfordshire-based adviser Filip Slipaczek was awarded the international standard for financial planning for the fifth year running.

Launched in 2006, BS ISO 22222 is the international standard for financial planning and a benchmark for practitioners.
