Stop press: DWP launches auto-enrolment campaign

The Department for Work and Pensions has launched an advertising campaign to make smaller companies aware of their duties to automatically enrol workers into a pension scheme.

The adverts will be fronted by Dragons’ Den star and entrepreneur Theo Paphitis and will be broadcast across the country.

Pensions minister Baroness Altmann said: “With more than 5m people automatically enrolled into a workplace pension, we have made great strides forward in a short space of time, but there is still much hard work to do.”

More than 47,000 large and medium-sized employers have already completed the process of automatically enrolling their workers.

The government is now focusing on the 1.3m small and micro firms that will have to offer their staff a workplace pension between now and 2018.
