Budget 2015: Osborne open to more ‘radical’ pension change

A green paper has been published by the chancellor George Osborne calling for input on how the country’s pensions system could be further shaken up.

Mr Osborne said he was “open to further radical change” in the pensions system, adding a pension could be “treated like an Isa” whereby people could have a tax-free account which is topped up by government.

“This needs careful and public consultation,” Mr Osborne said during his Budget speech.

“I have published a green paper that askes questions and takes care not to pre-judge answers.”

He added if the country “wants to produce more it needs to save more”.
