Halifax brings more than 25 new mortgage rates to market

Halifax and its intermediary arm have brought 26 new mortgage deals to market this week, across a range of loan-to-value multiples.

The lender reduced the rates on its first-time buyer and home mover mortgages by up to 0.3 per cent, while also cutting the maximum fee to £495.

Craig McKinlay, mortgages director at Halifax, said that their reduction of rates within the five-year range should support borrower’s needs for long-term stability.

Halifax Intermediaries launched a range of £795 fixed fee mortgages on two and five-year fixed rate deals for home movers, remortgages and first-time buyers.

Meanwhile, Leeds Building Society extended its range of interest-only mortgages with two new fee-free deals for remortgages.

Martin Richardson, their general manager for business development, commented: “Since we introduced part and part interest only mortgages two months ago, the vast majority of applications have been for remortgages.”

Virgin Money announced improvements to its higher LTV mortgage range for customers with smaller deposits, available from today (24 July).

Finally, Newcastle Building Society Intermediary Services launched a new portfolio of five-year products with a range of options, including no fees and incentives, which are aimed at giving first and next time buyers greater mortgage choice.

They products are available through NBSIS’ key accounts: Legal and General, Openwork, PINK, First Complete, Intrinsic, Positive Solutions and Brilliant Solutions, Sesame, PMS, Simplybiz, Tenet Lime and TMA.

Steven Marks, the lender’s corporate development executive, said that as Bank of England governor Mark Carney recently announced that an increase to the base rate was slowly moving closer, many borrowers will be considering what their next move should be.
