Tom Holl has been promoted to co-manager of the BGF World Gold fund and BlackRock Gold and General fund.
Mr Holl joined BlackRock in 2006 and has been part of the natural resources equity team since 2008.
The team has 16 members of staff and was looking after $17bn (£10.9bn) in assets under management at the end of May 2015.
Mr Holl’s experience includes researching the gold and mining sector as well as managing several gold funds domiciled outside Europe and several natural resources equity portfolios.
He will work alongside Evy Hambro, chief investment officer for the natural resources equity team.
The changes came into place on July 1 this year.
