JPMorgan EM head Titherington relocates to Hong Kong

JPMorgan Asset Management has appointed a third co-manager to its emerging market income funds as Richard Titherington moves from London to Hong Kong.

Mr Titherington, who has been CIO for emerging market equities since the end of 2001, is now CIO for the emerging markets and Asia Pacific equity team – a role which makes him responsible for a number of Hong Kong-domiciled portfolios.

He will remain as a named manager on his UK and Luxembourg-domiciled portfolios despite the move. Colleague Amit Mehta has been appointed to three of the group’s income strategies to ensure the funds retain two London-based managers, JPM said.

As of August 3, Mr Mehta is a named co-manager on the JPMorgan Global Emerging Markets Income trust, the JPM Global Emerging Markets Income Oeic, and the Emerging Markets Dividend Sicav, alongside Mr Titherington and Omar Negyal.

Mr Titherington is also a named manager on the $2.7bn (£1.7bn) Emerging Markets Opportunities Sicav. The portfolios’ investment processes will remain the same.

A spokesperson for JPMorgan said: “Richard Titherington is relocating to Hong Kong in his capacity as CIO for the emerging markets & Asia Pacific equity team. This move unites JPMorgan Asset Management’s emerging markets team and pacific regional group under Richard’s leadership, combining the sector research expertise of our global emerging markets team and the Asian expertise of the Pacific regional group, for the benefit of our clients.”

Mr Mehta was previously a portfolio manager across the JPM emerging markets team and has been with the firm since 2011. In the past he worked as an analyst at several asset managers, including Aviva Investors.
