Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has appointed an Insurance Linked Strategies (ILS) team to expand its fixed income offering to include ILS and catastrophe bond strategies.

The team of Dr Gregor Gawron, Simon Vuille and Marc Brogli join from Dynapartners and will be based in Zurich, reporting to Jan Straatman, LOIM’s chief investment officer.

Initially targeted at its institutional client base, the company confirmed plans to launch a Catastrophe Bond/ILS Ucits fund in the autumn.

Mr Straatman noted: “Catastrophe bonds are uncorrelated to other risks, including economic and capital market events, and returns of 4-6 per cent present an attractive opportunity.”
