HSBC adds global multi-asset fund

HSBC Global Asset Management has added an offshore global multi-asset income fund to enhance its range of multi-asset products.

The fund, managed by the team that runs HSBC Global Asset Management’s World Selection Income Portfolio, is designed to help investors benefit from the opportunities offered by global markets and different asset classes while spreading investment risk.

Key Features

• Investments will be spread across a broad range of income-generating asset classes

• Asset classes include emerging markets debt, global high-yield bonds, infrastructure and global listed real estate securities

• At launch the fund is expected to generate a yield of around 4 per cent (gross)

• The fund is registered in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Scandinavia, UAE, Malta and Jersey

Adviser View

Bob Wilson, financial adviser at Norwich-based Greensky Wealth, said: “The target type of bonds are generally good but I am not sure about the emerging market element.

“Emerging markets bonds will suffer in particular when rates go up. A small rise should not affect valuations but my concern is that people might flood out of the asset class, which could be an issue.

“I am not a massive fan of offshore propositions, partly as you can get some equally good results from onshore returns, and HSBC Global Asset Management is not a firm I would look to for active management.”
