Exeter: 70% now benefiting from underwriting technology

New figures from Exeter Family Friendly has revealed that the amount of people who achieve an immediate decision from underwriting technology UnderwriteMe has increased.

The mutual said that shortly after implementing the new underwriting technology, where clients received an instant underwriting decision, the income protection specialist was achieving an immediate verdict for 60 per cent of applicants.

However, recent figures show they are now achieving a rate of 70 per cent as a result of further improvements to the underwriting rules designed to accept more business at the point of sale.

Exeter Family Friendly also offers income protection clients the choice of paper, online and telephone underwriting options, and any applications submitted by 3.15pm are assessed and responded to that same day.

Phil Jeynes, head of sales and marketing at UnderwriteMe, said:“Our aim at UnderwriteMe is to genuinely grow the protection market.

“Forward thinking providers, such as Exeter Family Friendly, are showing that, by harnessing modern technology, it is possible to dramatically improve the experience they offer their clients, which can only lead to growth.”

Simon Philp, director of distribution and marketing at Exeter, added: “UnderwriteMe has transformed how customers buy income protection as they no longer face lengthy waits for an answer.

“It shows our commitment in making the process as simple as possible alongside our promise to deliver quality products for all budgets and needs.”
