Insight Investment hires multi-asset manager

Insight Investment has hired Lloyd Thomas as a portfolio manager as it continues to boost its multi-asset strategy team.

Mr Thomas joins from Mediolanum Asset Management where he worked for six years. He will report to Matthew Merritt, head of multi-asset strategy at Insight.

Mr Merritt said: “Over the past 24 months we have significantly increased our multi-asset footprint in the UK by establishing a very transparent and constructive dialogue with clients and consultants.

“We are noticing an increase in international interest, particularly from reputable investors in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and the US.”

In January Insight hired David Hillier from Aviva Investors as a portfolio manager for the multi-asset team.

Since the pension reforms came into effect in April, retirees have been able to take complete control of their pension rather than buying an annuity. Many of these investors have chosen multi-asset funds.

Asset managers have increasingly been focusing on their multi-asset teams because of this demand.
