Investec’s head of intermediary sales to join Old Mutual

Gary Dale, head of intermediary sales at Investec Structured Products, is set to join Old Mutual as head of UK sales.

Mr Dale, who has been with Investec for almost eight years, will start with Old Mutual on 30 November. He will be responsible for the sales and distribution of all products into the UK and the investment solutions supporting those products.

Speaking to FTAdviser, Mr Dale said: “I will be taking on a bigger role. The role with Old Mutual, in terms of the adviser space, is a much bigger proposition. Old Mutual has had lots of internal restructuring and the excitement of a larger job and leading a much larger team was enough to lure me.”

Mr Dale was brought in by Investec in 2008 to head up structured product sales across the intermediary market as Investec looked to launch its first collection of products.

Prior to Investec, Mr Dale worked at Santander Global Banking and Markets, where he headed the intermediary distribution team and specialised in the development of structured investment solutions across the UK and offshore markets.

He also launched a range of investment and trust-based products with Prudential.

He started his career as a broker consultant and worked in a number of life offices including Axa IoM and Norwich Union International.

Mr Dale added: “Maybe it is the right time to go back to the industry that I started in.”

Scott Goodsir, managing director of UK distribution at Old Mutual Wealth, said: “Gary will work closely with advisers and help the distribution team harness these new opportunities. The sheer breadth of Gary’s knowledge and expertise will be a real asset to the team and I look forward to him joining.”
