Aviva launches new group protection proposition

Aviva has launched a new group protection proposition, offering policyholders and members a full suite of workplace products and services.

New features include the option to offer employees cover when they have been previously diagnosed with cancer on both critical illness and cancer cover products and enhancements to the existing critical illness definitions.

It will also now include up to eight face-to-face counselling sessions for all of a policyholder’s insured and non-insured employees as well as value added services like support service RedArc and specialist second opinion service Best Doctors.

Since acquiring Friends Life earlier this year, work has been ongoing to build a new group protection offering that takes advantage of the extensive expertise from both companies.

Steve Bridger, managing director for group protection at Aviva, said: “We’ve taken a good look at the market and adapted our products to create a better fit with people’s lives. More and more people are surviving cancer and then going back to work and it was important to recognise that.”

The new proposition is available to existing customers of both Aviva and Friends Life at the end of their rate guarantee period.

Existing customers of both companies will continue on their current terms and conditions until their next rate review date.
