“Till death us do part” is a common vow made by most couples on their wedding day.

However, it seems that an increasing number of people are just waiting to get their hands on their pension pot to fully rid themselves of their estranged spouse.

Speaking at Fidelity’s retirement briefing, Maike Currie, associate director, Fidelity personal investing and formally of this parish, said people are using their 25 per cent tax free lump sum to pay off a partner in divorce.
