Investment platform Charles Stanley Direct has launched a news App aimed at both current and prospective mobile clients, offering company news, commentary, analysis and opinion.

Users will be able to access the service using the Apple iPhone or Apple Watch devices.

Speaking at the launch, Magnus Wheatley, managing director of Charles Stanley Direct, said: “The phone and watch Apps are an additional added service for our D2C clients and it is our first foray into the Apple ecosystem, which we believe has huge ramifications and potential for the wealth management industry.

“By working closely with Apple and its network of preferred suppliers, we have delivered this App on time and on budget, but crucially we now have a platform to enhance and work with to deliver additional services through Apple technology.”

Phil Stevenson, chartered financial planner at Cheshire-based Ark Financial Planning, said: “Clients aren’t overly interested in real-time info. If clients are educated at the outset of the financial planning process they will not react to market fluctuations” in the knowledge that they are in it for the long haul. This way, he said: “Clients don’t get hung up on the short term fluctuations in markets.”
