Accountancy support for small advisers

A support company for small IFAs and accountancy firms has been launched to help them grow their businesses by combining financial services skills with tax and business services.

Heading London-based Clapton Consultants is Eric Clapton, who is currently chairman of Herts-based Greenstone Financial Planning.

Mr Clapton said: “Given regulatory pressure and current market conditions collaboration among professional advisers is key to achieving sustained business growth. With the ability to collaborate and diversify their offering, these firms will be primed to turn existing challenges into fantastic opportunities.”

The new firm will provide guidance to accountants on the benefits of specialist designated professional body licensing which will allow them to better collaborate with IFAs in offering financial advice to clients.

Colin Hare, financial planner at the Surrey office of Argentis Financial Management, said: “Argentis has a link-up with accountancy firm Kingston Smith, and I would not disagree about the benefits of such partnerships.

“This is particularly the case with pension freedoms and the tapering of the annual allowance, which is just one case where advisers will have to work very closely with accountants.”
