Waverton IM signs up with national Fairstone

Waverton Investment Management has signed up with its first national firm of independent financial advisers, Fairstone.

John Bellamy, director and head of managed funds service at Waverton Investment Management, told FTAdviser: “We’ve just signed up with our first national, Fairstone. We are extremely pleased to be working with them. It’s a new venture for us.

“That is our first national. We are a small house. What has worked in our favour is that we’ve been on the platform now for over three years, which quite a few players haven’t.

“If we get the national then in each of the regions they are in whilst we are up there we can try to speak to one or two [advisory firms] around there.”

Fairstone has independent financial advisers nationwide, and offices in Newcastle, London, Bristol and Edinburgh.

Speaking about his relationships with IFAs, Mr Bellamy said: “You are looking for relationships where you are partnering with them and having close relationships with them so that’s our model. It remains scalable.

“I think in the DFM space there will be consolidation because costs of doing business are growing.”
