ETF Securities adds short and leveraged products

ETF Securities has launched 18 exchange-traded products (ETPs) in London covering short and long commodities and currency investments.

The ETP provider said it launched short and leveraged currency and commodity products in Italy and Germany earlier this year, and has become the first to list 5x short and leveraged currency ETPs in London.

It has added 3x short and long ETPs for coffee, copper, gold, natural gas, nickel, silver, sugar, wheat and crude oil. The products are all dollar denominated and have a management expense ratio (MER) of 98 basis points.

It also now offers 5x short and long euro currency ETPs denominated in both dollar and sterling, and short and long dollar ETPs denominated in sterling. The products will also have a 98 basis point MER.

The firm said 2015 had seen higher volatility across currencies and commodities, as well as increased investor interest in short and leveraged ETPs. Its own suite of these ETPs saw $135m (£89m) of global net inflows into short and leveraged ETPs.

Townsend Lansing, head of short and leveraged FX platforms at the firm, said: “We have seen tremendous growth in our short and leveraged platform across Europe over the last few years.

“The launch is a natural extension to our existing unleveraged range.”
