Transparency Task Force gets new ambassador

Dr Anna Tilba has become an ambassador of the Transparency Task Force, a campaigning organisation focused making financial services markets fairer, safer, more efficient and likely to deliver better value for money.

She is currently a researcher and lecturer in strategy and corporate governance at the Newcastle University Business School, having joined from the University of Liverpool Management School, where she obtained her PhD in corporate governance.

Her research interests include pension fund investment, financial intermediation and networks, accountability, corporate governance and investor engagement.

Most recently, Ms Tilba has been a member of the advisory committee on fiduciary duties of investment intermediaries for the Law Commission.

Ms Tilba said a substantial commitment within financial services is needed to push transparency forward, collaboratively, and the Transparency Task Force is an ideal vehicle for that. “It is encouraging vibrant, forthright and intelligent debate and that is exactly what is needed.”

Andy Agathangelou, founding chair of the Transparency Task Force, explained that Ms Tilba has already been supporting it as a valuable member of the transaction costs and charges team.

“She took part in the first transparency symposium debate on whether more government regulation is needed to achieve high levels of transparency in the UK pensions market.

“Anna will be presenting her latest research into local government pension schemes costs and charges at the second transparency symposium, which will be hosted by Newcastle University, in London.”

In July last year, FTAdviser reported that a group of financial services individuals joined to build a Transparency Task Force, aimed at increasing trust in the industry.
