Barings hires ex-Sarasin global income manager

Baring Asset Management has hired Darryl Lucas as global equity income investment manager as it seeks to bolster its income capability in this asset class.

In his new role, Mr Lucas will report to Marino Valensise, head of multi-asset at the company.

Barings said its global equity income business will sit alongside its equity, multi-asset and specialist fixed income capabilities as a “core pillar”.

Ken Lambden, chief investment officer at Baring Asset Management, said: “Income is one area where we anticipate continued strong demand as global demographic trends and low interest rates influence the need for income across the globe. Darryl’s appointment reflects this commitment to develop a comprehensive suite of income-generating products to meet our client needs.”

Mr Lucas was previously head of equity income at Sarasin & Partners and a manager across a range of the firm’s Global Dividend funds.

Prior to that he was a credit analyst at ABN Amro Asset Management.
