Ex-RBS director joins Barings fixed income team

Baring Asset Management has hired Brian Mangwiro from RBS to fill the role of director of fixed income and currency research.

Prior to moving to Barings at the beginning of March, Mr Mangwiro was director of global FX desk strategy at RBS, responsible for the bank’s global currency strategy.

Mr Mangwiro will be based in London and will report to Barings’ head of research Nigel Sillis.

The appointment comes as the investment firm continues to expand its fixed income team. Barings appointed David Nowakowski as director of fixed income research in December.

Alan Wilde, head of fixed income at Barings, said: “During a time when monetary policy is one key focus for markets, seeking currency opportunities to complement alpha derived from bond markets is going to remain a significant aspect of global fixed income investing.

“Currency markets can behave very differently to bonds and Brian’s experience in this area will further enhance our existing expertise in the team and our search to add value for our clients.”
