Henderson poaches Payne from Santander

Stephen Payne has left Santander Asset Management (Sam) and joined Henderson Global Investors to co-manage the £2.1bn Henderson Cautious Managed fund.

Alongside co-managers John Pattullo and Jenna Barnard, Mr Payne will be responsible for the fund and will report to Chris Burvill, director of UK equities and lead fund manager.

Prior to joining Henderson, Mr Payne was responsible for the enhanced, dividend and equity income funds at Santander Asset Management.

Mr Burvill said: “Stephen and I have known each other for a long time. He brings with him deep analytical experience, along with an excellent understanding of macroeconomic issues and fixed interest markets.

“Stephen’s ability to deliver attractive returns will be invaluable as we focus on growing our assets under management in this key area of the business for Henderson.”

Mr Payne said: “To work alongside Chris and help grow what is already a key franchise for Henderson will be an exciting opportunity.”

The Henderson Cautious Managed fund has returned 11 per cent over three years, while IA Mixed Investment 20-60 per cent shares returned 9 per cent, according to FE Analytics.
